The Morningstar Data & Direct group is the home of Morningstar's flagship product. We work to serve the needs of professional investors in the Wealth and Asset Management firms.
Morningstar Direct connects the product, research, business intelligence, marketing, and wholesaling groups within these firms, and drives efficiency across their primary manufacturing, distribution, and marketing workflows by leveraging Morningstar's data, research, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
The Role
The Associate Product Manager role will work closely with Product Managers, QA, Engineers, Scrum Masters, internal and external clients in multiple development squads.
This role will perform research, business analysis and seek to understand client requirements and then define those requirements in detail, so that the engineering teams can implement with clear, concise and actionable solutions.
This role will be based in our Toronto office.Responsibilities:
- Assists product manager in executing product roadmap.
- May own product feature(s) or smaller products/capabilities.
- Translate business knowledge and client needs into business requirements, specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Deep dive into data and calculation methodologies and define them for our engineering teams according to our standards.
- Communicate and work well with squads, engage with other teams and stakeholders
- Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
- Analyze industry, users and competitive products on asset management and mutual fund industry.
- Research and experiment with new data and ideas.
- Review test plan and test cases, support testing and quality assurance.
- Review and respond to user questions and feedback and engage in client support cases when needed.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of business analysis, data analysis, product management experience, or experience with Morningstar products.
- Selfmotivated, excellent work ethic, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a team environment.
- Detail oriented and unafraid to dig into calculation methodologies.
- Excellent problemsolving skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
- Basic knowledge of software user experience design will be preferable.
