As the District Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing business and operational planning, development, and implementation.

Your role will involve evaluating and monitoring compliance with key programs, including water management, lands and waters, aggregates, fisheries, wildlife and forestry.

You will also lead the implementation of mandated corporate, regional, and local programs and services including emergency management and public safety, while building relationships and consulting with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and the public.

Developing relevant partnerships to deliver priority work will also be a critical part of your role.

What can I expect to do in this role?: Reporting to the District Manager, you will:

  • Provide leadership for attracting, building and motivating high-performance teams that are focused on responding to the Ministry's complex natural resource management challenges with a strong client service focus.
  • Work collaboratively to leverage capacity from across work units, regions and the Ministry to ensure the best available advice is contributing to evidencebased decisionmaking.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team, including human resources functions of recruitment, training and development, and labor relations, to support an inclusive and engaged team.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of effective and comprehensive programs and ensure program integrity and quality service, consistent with legislation, regulations, provincial strategic directions, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide expertise in operationalizing strategic plans through the development of work plans, issues management and communication strategies, and provide advice to senior ministry management.
  • Build and maintain relationships/partnerships with internal and external clients.
  • Lead the implementation of consultation programs and processes with Indigenous communities, external agencies and stakeholders on land use or environmental assessment plans or projects.
  • Be a strong champion for organizational change, enabling staff and teams with diverse motivations to effectively make necessary transitions.
