    Description

    The North West Company (NWC) is seeking a meticulous and analytical Data Analyst to join our Strategy, Planning, and Analytics department.

    This cross-functional role involves working closely with key stakeholders across NWC Business Units and departments to execute data analytics that facilitate customer-driven decisions, actions, and outcomes.

    The ideal candidate will analyze business data, trends, and transactional data to recommend strategies that enhance business performance and profitability.

    Business Data Analysis :
    Conduct business data analysis using appropriate methods of data collection, modeling, visualization, problem-solving, and analytical models.
    Assist in the development and writing of business cases, project charters, and project schedules.
    Run scheduled and ad-hoc reports to identify, analyze, and interpret trends in complex data sets.
    Recommend and document quality metrics, ensuring they are tracked and analyzed.
    Provide support and analyses on ad hoc projects.
    # Transactional Data Analysis :

    Conduct deep dive analyses to study key area trends and opportunities to drive customer satisfaction and business improvements.

    Run ad-hoc analyses to identify and recommend innovative strategies using data visualization, modeling tools, and programming languages such as Tableau, Power BI, Oracle Analytics, Python, Power Query, Alteryx, and Power Excel.

    Analyze performance against banner, group, and departmental objectives.
    Monitor approved Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and suggest improvement steps.
    Undergraduate degree in business, data science, math, or a related field.
    Previous analytics experience considered an asset.
    Master's Degree in Data Science is considered an asset.
    Advanced knowledge of Excel, including Power Query.
    Working knowledge of programming languages (SQL, R, C++, Python, etc.).
    Working knowledge of visualization tools and modeling software (Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics, Alteryx, etc.).
    Previous analytics experience considered an asset.
    Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
    Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions.
    Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work across organizational lines.
    Some travel required (approximately 7 days per year, domestic or international).
