It has the responsibility for premium and pricing matters related to employer accounts including establishing a sound pricing mechanism (annual rate setting and incentive programs) to promote injury prevention and disability management, and to provide appropriate funding to support the WCB's funding policy.
Collaboration with internal teams like Finance and Actuarial Services and external stakeholders such as employer associations, business owners, industry leaders, associations, boards, and governments is critical to this position to ensure needs are met for all stakeholders.
This position is also responsible for delivering information on loss control to stakeholders in creative formats to promote greater understanding of risk financing and how pricing drives performance.
Your Responsibilities:
- Development, administration, and coordinator of WCB industrial classification system, premium rate setting process and experience rating plans.
- Design and implementation of Partnerships in Injury Reduction (PIR), which includes employer education and auditing of employer health and safety.
- Research, design and implementation of flexible pricing and service programs to promote a customerbased focus towards achieving injury reduction and risk financing objectives.
- Deliver information on claims, costs, and premiums to stakeholders in creative formats to promote greater understanding of risk financing and the links between performance and pricing.
- Establishment and administration of quality assurance systems to ensure consistent industry assignment and proper charging of claims to employers/industry.
- Encourage and support effective two way consultation with Occupational Health and Safety, industry and safety associations and other stakeholders for the provision of risk management service.
- Establishment and administration of auditing programs to assess and improve employer reporting of claims and account information including assessable earnings and business operation information.
- Oversee the premium and claim audit teams which assess the compliance with reporting of employer operations and claims based on legislation and policy.
- Leads supervisors and staff in creation of business plans and objectives that are aligned with team, departmental, divisional, and corporate plans, and objectives.
Your experience and skills:
- Undergraduate Degree/Diploma in Business or a related field. Master's in Business Administration an asset. An emphasis on business management, statistics, marketing, and project management.
- Several years of progressive management experience in disability and insurance risk management with excellent knowledge of WCB policies and WC legislation.
- Extensive working knowledge of business operations and risks, rate setting, experience rating and employer's role in claims management.
- Sound working knowledge of insurance principles and practices and insurance underwriting processes.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Strategic, progressive, selfmotivated individual with a high level of initiative and strong business acumen.
- Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment by initiating and implementing change is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, plan, direct and evaluate people and activities.

Salary Grade 15:
$117,612 to $146,991 per annum
