We are currently looking to hire a
Yard Team Leader to join our team in Hamilton, ON The Yard Team Leader facilitates and assists with directing the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project.

They are responsible for the shipping, picking, inspecting, and receiving of our gear at our yard operations.

Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, the Yard Team Leader is a working shift leader who is responsible for providing coaching and training to Yard Shippers & Receivers, as well as directing workflow within the Yard.


Yard Team Leader Responsibilities:


  • Provide training and coaching to Yard Shippers & Receivers
  • Assist with scheduling and directing the workflow within the Yard Operations
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by adhering to safe work practices and the Northstar Scaffold Safety Philosophy
  • Assist with reviewing Yard Shippers & Receivers commitment to safety
  • Complete workplace incident reports as required
  • Complete Yard safety checks, inspections, and escalate concerns as required
  • Ensure yard is kept clean and organized
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs
  • Picking orders and ensuring accuracy
  • Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear
  • May operate company vehicle to assist with delivering gear to customer or project sites
  • Use and clean tools required on the worksite
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Highschool diploma or working towards one
  • 1+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Previous work experience in as a Shipper Receiver, Order Picker, or Material Handler role an asset
  • G class license preferred
  • Ability to motivate, organize workflow, and lead a team of Yard Workers
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs
  • Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to take initiative and work with mínimal supervision under tight time constraints
  • Punctual and consistent with reliable means of travel to/from work
  • A Team Player who works well with others and trains new members as required
  • Good communication skills verbal and written
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
  • Be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Scaffold knowledge and/or forklift license an asset
