The Manager of Housekeeping Services is currently seeking multiple part time Housekeepers.

The purpose of the position is to provide a variety of environmental service duties according to established procedures to maintain a mental health care hospital, secure forensic division and community buildings in a neat, orderly and sanitary condition.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Performing indoor and outdoor cleaning such as washing, stripping, sealing, waxing and buffing and burnishing floors; steam cleaning/shampooing carpets and furniture; washing woodwork, walls, ceilings and tiles; cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms/washrooms/tub rooms/shower rooms/change rooms/patios/clinic/department/office and public areas; dry, wet and damp mopping; damp dusting; terminal discharge/transfer cleaning; cleaning of lights, fixtures, fans and hoods; cleaning inside and outside windows/partition glass, skylights and screens; removal, hanging and cleaning of window coverings; cleaning inside and outside entrances/ walkways/elevators and stairwells; cleaning external recreation areas and beach facilities.
  • Collecting and transporting garbage/recycling/compost
  • Performing and reporting minor maintenance and repairs

Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Recent and related housekeeping experience working in a hospital setting including experience with infection control standards and practices related to cleaning
  • Recent and related experience with cleaning methods, industrial cleaning equipment and materials
  • Experience using a variety of tools/equipment including power equipment, window washer, pressure sprayer, heavy power cleaning and maintenance equipment
  • Recent experience with WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
  • Recent and related experience with security procedures within a mental health care facility
  • Ability to set priorities, recognize problems and plan and schedule work effectively
  • Proven customer orientation to work with clients, visitors, staff and as a member of a team
  • Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
  • Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
