With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Respond to security emergencies, incidents and general complaints that occur at any ETS facility or on ETS property
  • Ensure ETS facilities are secure and patrons are safe by conducting routine preventative patrols on ETS property and reporting immediately any potential or actual risks or losses
  • Ensure ETS customer service needs are met by providing transit information such as required fares or location stops, responding to injury reports within transit facilities, and assisting passengers who require any support in using the transit service
  • Cultivate and maintain respectful relationships with Edmonton's diverse individuals and communities and act as a positive ambassador for the City of Edmonton
  • Exercise discretionary law enforcement powers under federal and provincial legislation, and municipal bylaws
  • Work with a variety of security professionals, other Peace Officer groups and the Edmonton Police Service to improve safety as it relates to ETS
  • Support Transit Operations with safe and efficient fare enforcement
  • Collect information and evidence to support court proceedings, insurance claims, and Security and Risk Management activities. Give testimony or evidence in court as required
  • Prepare letters and reports, develop and implement special events, conduct media interviews and public presentations
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a recognized Diploma related to Police Studies, Security or Criminology and a minimum of 3 years of customer service experience with at least 1 year of diverse law enforcement experience
  • OR
  • Grade 12 and a minimum 5 years of enforcement experience in a recognized law enforcement environment, and must have been a serving Police Officer in Canada, or employed as a Peace Officer Level I within Alberta for at least 2 years (Equivalencies may be considered)
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the Provincial Community Peace Officer I designation with completion of the Community Peace Officer Induction Program
  • CPOIP, as well as a Bylaw officer appointment. Those awaiting certification will be paid at a development rate
  • Must be able to obtain or have successfully completed the Physical Abilities Readiness Evaluation (P.A.R.E.)
  • Skilled in exercising tact, sound judgment and firmness in dealing with difficult situations and with the public
  • Ability to deescalate potentially volatile situations, and to recognize and react appropriately to dangerous situations and an understanding of officer safety techniques
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience working or volunteering in your community or with racialized people and other equity seeking groups would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of another language is an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of racism and discrimination as it pertains to law enforcement, and how bias can influence behaviour and decisions
  • Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, antiracism, Indigenous awareness and GBA+ would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrate service excellence, embracing diversity and promoting inclusiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate inclusively and respectfully with diverse community members and work inclusively as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers; excellent interpersonal, time management, and customer service skills are required
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to groups
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) and eligibility to obtain and retain a City Driver's Permit is required

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, evening and weekend availability is required.


Salary:
Certified: $ $ Hourly); $80,252 - $88,919 (Annually)
