The Role:


The Purchasing Agent is responsible for executing department purchase orders, and supports price integrity, schedule/payment task consistency, relationship management and dispute resolution.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Load PO suppliers, verify against awarded contracts, and generate contract PO's for all Projects/Phases within the assigned Division(s)
  • Respond to all site and supplier PO inquiries
  • Issue any required change orders, void and reissue PO's as necessary, and execute/communicate all PO adjustments
  • Issue POs for any approved Late Change Requests
  • Verify, approve, and follow up on delinquent approvals for variance purchase orders (VPO)
  • Assist with VPO reallocations as necessary
  • Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes
  • Contribute to the maintenance of contract documents and scopes
  • Liaise with trade partners and other departments to communicate issues and resolve conflicts
  • Assist with maintaining departmental database and troubleshoot issues
  • Participate in the development of custom reporting and automation tools
  • Complete administrative tasks within the department
  • Perform other duties as required

You will bring:


  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role; preferably in the construction industry
  • Familiar with standard procurement concepts, best practices, and techniques
  • Good understanding of logistics
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and positive team player
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and trade partners
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, SQL, VBA, NewStar and SharePoint is an asset
