    Lending Representative (Permanent, Full-time)

    Location: Peterborough, ON

    Hours: Monday to Saturday, 40 hours per week

    Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience

    As an Lending Representative, you will:

  • Learn the consumer lending specialization and how to manage member relationships; contributing to the overall success of the Credit Union.
  • Develop the required skills and knowledge to successfully transition to the Financial Services Representative position.
  • Provide excellent member service to members and non-members in person, electronically or by telephone.
  • Develop the ability to proactively recommend products and services to members that will enhance their financial well-being.
  • Assist with transactions necessary to meet their financial needs, specializing in the function of consumer lending.
  • Perform in branch lending administration duties which will include funding of lending products.
  • Complete loan minutes on a daily basis.
  • Counsel members on financial matters such as family budgeting, credit counselling, etc. Refer more complex business to a Manager or Specialist.
  • Counsel members on value of creditor insurance and payment protection with focus on lifestyle and legacy. Complete administration of credit insurance commitment, waiver or cancellation.
  • Conduct interviews (personal loans, lines-of-credit and mortgages), complete document/application preparation and credit analysis. Transact member requests.
  • Make recommendations to the applicable Manager/Specialist for approval or decline of credit applications.
  • Communicate approval or rejection to applicant(s) with assistance and/or coaching from the applicable Manager/Specialist as required.
  • Assist with the collection and follow-up of delinquent accounts, referring problems to a Recovery Officer.
  • Identify and generate sales opportunities; cross sell all Credit Union products and services and participate in sales programs, and initiatives to attain individual, branch and organizational goals.
  • Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Post-secondary education with emphasis in business or financial planning would be an asset
  • Two to three years of financial services industry experience
  • Excellent member service and sales skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment for the benefit of both the Credit Union and member
  • Ability to multi-task and work under deadline pressure
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, discretion and diplomacy
