The purpose of the role of
Data Migration Specialist is to assist in providing a data transfer service to successfully migrate data from new and existing customers' third-party accounting software and legal practice management databases into cloud-based software tools, which are QuickBooks Online (Financial Management and Bookkeeping) and CLIO (Legal Practice Management).
Key Responsibilities:
- Transfer/migrate static data and transactional data from third party systems into the new cloudbased platforms, to the highest possible standards using standardized conversion scripts, formatting techniques and software.
- Perform source system (legacy) data analysis as needed to determine and manage source to target data mapping.
- Create data formatting solutions for clients with legacy system data for which there are no standardized scripts or previous migrations.
- Create backup copies of client data in case the project is interrupted for any reason.
- Assist with quality checks of transferred data to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with the production of data verification reports relating to data transfers (proof of completion documents comparing legacy data to new data)
- Create an inventory of all data that needs to be migrated and determine how much time and effort will be required to complete the task
- Monitor progress on the project to ensure that it is completed on time and within budget for your role
- Provide timely updates to management via Karbon (practice management software) on project status and potential roadblocks
- Provide support to management where problems arise from data migrations
- Ensure that we deliver data transfers to the highest possible standards and client satisfaction.
- Communicate with client if data pieces are missing, upon direction from leads and manager.
- Carry out any other reasonable management requests.
Required Skills:
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and formatting
- Selfdriven
- Have a strong collaborative mindset and ability to work with a fastgrowing team
- Able to problem solve and share solutions with others
- Familiarity with accounting systems and basic accounting theory necessary for ensuring client reports are properly generated in the new systems
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and CLIO is ideal
- Client facing experience ideal
