Applications are invited from interested and qualified teachers for the position of Transitions and De-streaming Coach (Grades 7-10)

  • Numeracy effective September 5, 2023. The appointment will be for a term of up to three (3) years based on funding received by the Ministry.

Responsibilities:


The Transitions and De-streaming Coach will work within an integrated, collaborative system team supporting the Board's Strategic Plan, Annual System Priorities and the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-being through the collaborative work of all Board departments.

As an integral member of the Program and Innovation Department, the Transitions and De-streaming Coach will provide leadership and support, promoting diversity, inclusion and success for all learners.


Reporting to the Superintendent of Program and Innovation and working as an integral part of a team, the successful applicant will work with intermediate teachers and provide early supports to prepare students in Grades 7 and 8 prior to transitioning into a de-streamed Grade 9 and to continue to support students in a de-streamed Grade 9, and their transition to Grade 10.

The duties and responsibilities of the Transitions and De-streaming Coach within the terms of the Collective Agreement and congruent with the Board's Mission Statement, will be determined in consultation with the Superintendent of Education


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Religion AQ Part
  • Specialist Qualification in Mathematics OR Undergraduate degree in Mathematics

Other Experience and Criteria:

  • Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Minimum five (5) years permanent teaching experience in at least two (2) divisions, one of which is intermediate.
  • Experience working with Program Councils and/or Divisional teams

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic philosophy of the Niagara Catholic District School Board;
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in facilitating professional development;
  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of exemplary teaching/learning strategies, assessment and evaluation methods, curriculum implementation
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and nurture community partnerships across both elementary and secondary panels.

Responsibilities:


  • To function within the Catholic context of the Board's Mission and Vision statement.
  • To work under the direction of the Superintendent of Program and Innovation to develop and/or implement system programs/curriculum initiatives;
  • To be knowledgeable about Ministry curriculum documents and policy documents at both the elementary and secondary level;
  • To attend various Ministry of Education Curriculum sessions
  • To work collaboratively with the Research Assessment and Evaluation Department to implement Assessment and Evaluation Guidelines outlined in Growing Success and Learning for All;
  • To support the development and/or provide professional development for educators in Numeracy/Mathematics
  • To support facilitation and organization of system events planning and execution;
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the needs of student transitions and destreaming.
