WORK ILLUSTRATION:
Reporting to the Manager, IT Portfolio Management, the IT Technical Consultant provides technical and development support, performs trouble shooting functions, implements processes, systems or projects that contribute to the efficient and effective technical delivery in the operational areas of Information Technology.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for the IT Systems
- Designs, installs, develops, configures, maintains, enhances Information Technology systems software and hardware in accordance with corporate and security standards, for defined area of expertise
- Supports and responds to service outages and incidents
- Supports Information Technology System design and development, testing, deployment and upgrade activities
- Creates and maintains documentation to support IT Systems and Processes
- Identifies problems and opportunities for improvement of IT Services, systems or processes
- Troubleshoots and maintains IT systems to improve reliability, capacity, performance
- Performs administrative routines associated with the position
- Experience in design, developing and supporting Opentext and SharePoint solutions
- Experience in software design
- Knowledgeable in ITIL and SDLC processes and best practices
- Experienced in executing projects with both Waterfall and Agile methodology
REQUIREMENTS:
- Postsecondary Degree/ Diploma (University or College)
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Information Technology
- Experience with web technology, content management platform and mobile app development in both DEV/BA/BSA/PM capacity
- Knowledge of Opentext and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of general system design
- Experience with integrating platforms such as WebSphere AIP, IBM Integration Bus, IBM ACE and MOVEit. Ability to support existing integration as well as design of new interfaces to meet new business needs.
- Proficient with SQL, Python, Java,.NET, Shell Scripting, Batch Scripts.
- Proficient with Windows / Linux / AIX
- Understanding of device communications
- TCP/IP, PSTN, wireless mesh networks.
- Ability to work in team environment
- Ensures measures are in place to track achievements
- Innovation and creative problem solving
- Effective approach to risk management
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrates safety awareness
- Electrical utility experience an asset
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
