Scope

The City of Surrey is rising from the ground up, transforming into North America's next metropolitan centre and we are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded champion to join our Economic Development team in the Investment and Intergovernmental Relations Department.

As the Business Relationship Specialist, you will create and execute initiatives to position Surrey as the premier location in Western Canada for business investment and innovation.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development, your responsibilities will include:
SURREY'S BUSINESS OUTREACH PROGRAM Lead the execution of the City's business outreach program and maintain a strong relationship with local businesses Connect local businesses to government services and programs that help them to grow Measure the impact and support continuous program improvement
INVESTMENT ATTRACTION AND BUSINESS RELATIONS Support the development of new business vibrancy programs across the City Promote local investment opportunities, help identify commercial and industrial land opportunities, and support investor decision-making in Surrey Facilitate new private sector partnerships and investment opportunities throughout the community Manage legislative and administrative processes for Surrey's Business Improvement Areas Act as a liaison between the City and local Business Associations
SECTOR DEVELOPMENT Research, develop, and implement innovative sector-related programs and initiatives to attract, retain, and grow businesses Support the execution of sector development programming and other initiatives as required
STRATEGIC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT Analyse and evaluate economic and business development opportunities and identify strategies to develop these opportunities Develop and expand relationships with potential investors and businesses looking to relocate to Surrey Assist in writing grants and developing proposals to advance economic development strategic initiatives

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelors degree in Commerce or Business Administration, supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of current experience in business development or a combination of relevant training and experience Program management and technical sales experience would be an asset High level of proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong research/analytical/reporting Strong attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables
