POSITION:
Industrial Paint Prepper


DEPARTMENT:
Assembly


SHIFT: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday)


REPORTS TO:
Plant Manager


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prep parts prior to painting, including buffing, deburring, washing and masking.
  • Repair paint defects as needed.
  • Change out paints, primer and catalyze as needed.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on paint guns.
  • Work to acceptable production rates and standards.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.
  • Adhere to Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Assist in painting surfaces, using a spray gun as required.
  • Examines the painted surfaces, to check the quality of the work and notes any runs, ripples or unpainted portions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Grade 12 or equivalent


Experience: 1 year experience as a painter is an asset

(preferably in a manufacturing/production environment)


Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:


  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Capable to operate safely, all painting equipment and paint booth controls.
  • Capable of receiving instruction and be trained to achieve full responsibilities of a Painter.
  • Handson experience working with heavy lift equipment such as Lift trucks and Cranes.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal.
  • Knowledge of correct use of protective clothing, breathing apparatus and ventilation devices.
  • Must be able to work on multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be able to work well with little supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
