POSITION:
Industrial Paint Prepper

DEPARTMENT:
Assembly

SHIFT: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday)

REPORTS TO:
Plant Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prep parts prior to painting, including buffing, deburring, washing and masking.
Repair paint defects as needed.
Change out paints, primer and catalyze as needed.
Perform daily preventative maintenance on paint guns.
Work to acceptable production rates and standards.
Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.
Adhere to Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
Assist in painting surfaces, using a spray gun as required.
Examines the painted surfaces, to check the quality of the work and notes any runs, ripples or unpainted portions.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience: 1 year experience as a painter is an asset

(preferably in a manufacturing/production environment)

Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:

Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Capable to operate safely, all painting equipment and paint booth controls.
Capable of receiving instruction and be trained to achieve full responsibilities of a Painter.
Handson experience working with heavy lift equipment such as Lift trucks and Cranes.
Knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal.
Knowledge of correct use of protective clothing, breathing apparatus and ventilation devices.
Must be able to work on multiple priorities and deadlines.
Must be able to work well with little supervision.
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
