Duties and Responsibilities:_
- Develop and implement communityfocused EDI strategies to support inclusivity and promote antiracism initiatives.
- Organize and coordinate cultural activities, events, and programs that celebrate the diversity of the community.
- Collaborate with local organizations, leaders, and community members to assess needs and cocreate impactful EDI initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to raise awareness about antiracism, cultural competence, and equity in the community.
- Establish partnerships with businesses, and cultural organizations to support a collaborative approach to community EDI efforts.
- Advocate for policies and practices that promote equity and inclusivity within community institutions.
- Act as a resource for community members, providing support and guidance on EDIrelated matters.
- Collaborate with local media to amplify EDI initiatives and showcase the richness of cultural diversity within the community.
- Regularly assess the impact of EDI programs and activities, adjusting strategies based on community feedback and evolving needs.
Qualifications and Requirements:_
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent communitybased work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in community organizing, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Strong understanding of antiracism principles and cultural competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members.
- Proven ability to plan and execute events, workshops, and programs that foster community connection.
- Familiarity with local community dynamics, challenges, and opportunities related to EDI.
- Collaborative and inclusive approach to working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Passion for social justice and creating positive change within the community.
- Ability to navigate complex community issues and build consensus among relevant parties.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and adaptation to best serve the evolving needs of the community.
Additional Information:_
- Travel to community locations within RDN will be required. Occasional travel to locations in other parts of British Columbia and/or Canada for purposes of professional development, networking, or conferences may also be required.
- Some work outside of regular office hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required. Flex time schedules will be made to accommodate nonregular work hours.
- CVIMS compensates overtime hours with time in lieu.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay:
$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
