About the Opportunity:


In collaboration with the Recreation Therapist, the Recreation Therapy Associate is responsible for providing therapeutic-based treatment, recreation/participation programs to veterans and family members.

Other key responsibilities of this position include planning and development of programs, responsibility for group safety during on site and community programming, volunteer management and documentation according to departmental standards.

The Recreation Therapy Associate may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Two-year post secondary diploma/certificate in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Leadership from an accredited educational institution
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding working with individuals who have a disability
  • Knowledge of activity analysis and recreation program planning
  • Knowledge of community supports and leisure resources
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities
  • Flexibility in rapidly changing needs and demands of both patients and staff
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours:


  • Long assignment, Fulltime position; 75 hours biweekly.
  • Approximately a 12month assignment

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $25.45 Hourly
