To support us on our journey, the Building Services department is looking for
a
Maintenance Technician to join the team at Mount Sinai Hospital.

In compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, the principal responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include:

  • Operate and maintain all building systems and equipment, including but not limited to, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, emergency diesel generator, security, life & safety(Medical Gas, Steam and Sterilization), plumbing and, in a safe and efficient manner at all times
  • Maintain all auxiliary equipment in accordance with governing standards, codes and regulations
  • Ensure there is an adequate supply of steam and chilled water for HVAC, sterilization, and domestic hot water
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to all tenant and property management requests
  • Perform preventative maintenance and regular repairs with minimum supervision
  • Perform any and all programming, scheduling and computer entry using Building Automation, Pneumatic Tube and in house computerized systems
  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of all building systems
  • Supervise subordinate employees, contractors and service personnel
  • Assist with other duties related to the position as assigned


  • Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • Completion of one of the following certificates from BOMI Education Canada OR
  • Facilities Management Certificate
  • Building Systems Maintenance
  • Building Energy Certificate
  • Completion of 3rd or 3rd class operating engineers certificate from the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA)
  • 13 of recent experience on repair, maintenance and operation of motor controls and steam plant equipment is an asset
  • 13 years' of recent mechanical, electrical and plumbing experience is an asset
  • Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience will be considered
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and HVAC schematic drawings
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and plumbing background
  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and read using English in order to effectively perform essential requirements of this position
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • Training on WHIMIS
  • Demonstrated strong technical knowledge
