RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

The Lands Laboratory conducts research to develop new therapies for chronic lung disease, such as Cystic Fibrosis and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia.

We are particularly focused on novel inhaled nucleic acid therapies with a unique set-up for studying therapeutic aerosols.

The research assistant will play a key role in establishing primary respiratory epithelial cell cultures from clinical material, development of immortalized cell lines, and assessing responses to stimuli and therapies in cell lines and primary cells.

Outcome measures include ELISA, western blot, RNA expression by droplet digital PCR and RNAseq, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry. Opportunities for lab management.

General Duties

  • Culture of respiratory epithelial cells
  • Immortalization of primary cells
  • ELISA
  • Western blot
  • RNA isolation, execution of qPCR / droplet digital PCR
  • Preparation of samples for RNAseq
  • Flow cytometry
  • Ussing chamber
  • Lab management and maintenance (10%)
  • Data analysis (5%)

  • Education: Master's Degree
  • Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience
