OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring an
Overnight Awake to join our team. This full-time position is an opportunity to put your knowledge and technical skills to work.


THE ROLE

  • Assists members with personal care and hygiene as necessary. This may include _prompting members to complete their personal care or hygiene_, encouraging independence, assistance with personal hygiene, feeding, dressing and position change, as well as care, maintenance and use of any equipment required for the support of the members.
  • Support members with complex behavioral needs; some members have involvement with Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Ontario Review Board.
  • Inspects, monitors, and ensures all safety aspects are in place for safe overnight operation, e.g. hallways cleared, alarms set etc.
  • Performs housekeeping activities and completes any outstanding chores, which have not been completed by the previous shift.
  • As appropriate, facilitates and assists members with their individual Personal Support Plans to achieve identified goals with the involvement of the members.
  • Administers and records prescribed medication as per instructions from a medical practitioner and follows the agency's Medication Policies and Procedures.
  • Reports immediately to the Supervisor and/or Program Director of any allegations, or suspicion of abuse, in relations to VITA members, as per VITA's antiabuse Policies and Procedures.
  • Facilitates essential communications with Primary Direct Care Staff, family members and other services systems as necessary, documenting information in the established communication media.
  • Identifies and reports equipment and residential maintenance needs.
  • Follows oncall procedures according to Policies and Procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation prior to leaving shift.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor or delegate.
  • Participation in meetings and trainings as required.

THE SHIFT

Rotational 12 hours shifts:
(8 pm

  • 8 am)

Week 1:
Wed, Thu


Week 2:
Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun


WHAT YOU BRING

  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education (PSW, Health Care Aid) or other relevant postsecondary education.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience post graduate working with individuals with disabilities.

Valid driver's license required

  • Valid and ongoing current training certificates in Abuse training, Back Care, First Aid, Fire Safety, Safe Management, Pharmacology and WHMIS are required.

COVID RELATED REQUIREMENTS
Employment with VITA is conditional on your ability to meet the following requirements:

  • Proof of negative COVID-19 test completed in the last 3 days prior to start date.
  • Proof of completed COVID19 Vaccination, or a commitment to receive the second dose in the first week from the date of hire (or documentation proving inability to receive the Vaccine due to medical or religious grounds)
