**Program Overview - Language Programs, Community Programs

This position is accountable to the Supervisor of Language Services for case-managing services to participants of the Enhanced Language Training Program (ELT), delivering services and supports to those clients, and connecting them to resources that will support their employment acquisition relevant to their professions.

This position is required to fulfill the physical and psychological demands of the job as per the attached Position Demands Analysis.


What You Will Do

  • Responsible for implementing all activities as per the annual workplan developed together with management within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Outreach to the community and market the programs to ensure that newcomers are aware of WoodGreen's ELT and other supporting resources.
  • Assess client suitability for the ELT program, complete intake for ELT, and refer to alternative interventions available within WoodGreen Community Services where appropriate.
  • Ensure that ELT program participant obtains the support needed through direct service provision or referral to other programs and services.
  • Perform systematic and regular followups with participants and other program and service staff.
  • Ensure ongoing and effective communication and consultation with ELT instructors and other program staff, including participant referral and feedback.
  • Maintain uptodate client files (electronic and or hard copy), program documentation and statistics as required by WoodGreen and the funder.
  • Follow case and data management standards. Databases used include but may not be limited to CRM and iCARE.
  • Support clients with job retention and career advancement.
  • Serve newcomer clients in person as well as through eservices and ensure that all program goals, statistics, and outcomes are met.
  • Outreach to and liaise with employers to gain awareness and build a network of contacts leading to participant referrals and introductions for employment opportunities, job placement/internships, job shadowing, job trials and mentorships.
  • Organize seminars, employer forums, network meetings and other presentations to enhance participants' knowledge of their sector, employment, and career opportunities.
  • Assist in developing plans and tools to measure outcomes and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Participate as part of the unit in developing and implementing unit goals and objectives.
  • Work with other staff to ensure ongoing collaboration and coordination within the unit and the organization.
  • Works with partner organizations to enhance service capacity and client benefits.
  • Monitor and document outcomes of all activities and report to the manager on a regular basis.
  • Engage in training and education to upgrade skills as directed by WoodGreen Community Services to fulfil responsibilities of the position.
  • Ensure the antiracism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved within the program.
  • Responsible for representing the unit on internal staff committees as directed by the Management.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the Supervisor.
  • Participate in regular staff and unit meetings.
  • Perform other related duties from time to time.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Social Work, Employment Counselling or equivalent.
  • 2 years' experience in providing language and employment counselling to clients with barriers
  • 3+ years experience in case management
