Overview:


The Electrical & Automation Coordinator is responsible for maintaining seamless functionality of the electrical and automation infrastructure within all ECAN Slag and Terminal operations with potential support to cement plant locations as needed.

As well the incumbent will provide design and layout support regarding the electrical and/or automation aspects of projects taking place.

The role must contribute to achieving cement operational performance key performance indicators and compliance with Group standards and policies, while ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental regulations.


Responsibilities:


H&S and Environmental Compliance:

***- Ensure compliance with OH&S and environment policies. Contribute to a strong safety culture and take on specific actions to ensure health and safety incident prevention. Serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors. In consultation with Environmental personnel, ensure that systems safeguards are in place to ensure regulatory requirements are maintained in accordance with the relevant regulation, certificate, or permit.


Electrical and Systems Maintenance:


  • Support plant/site resources to determine, coordinate and plan the necessary preventive and corrective systems maintenance actions to assure longterm proper functioning of electrical and process control infrastructure. Work with plant/site resources to plan annual shutdown programs, establish preventive systems maintenance plans in conjunction with plant/site personnel and coordinate any Capital Expenditures required to keep equipment up to LafargeHolcim and industry standards. Be key resource for Electrical in Northern Ontario for remote Slag and Terminal locations as required.

IT/ADC Systems & Control:


  • Ensure plants/sites maintain the plant process network in order to ensure reliability and optimization of the operation. Ensure that plants/sites have a system control networks documented and updated on an ongoing basis. Ensure equipment and installation history is maintained and all systems are within the Group Standards and policies for design and security.

Planning and Cost Control:


  • Support Site Management in the identification of network systems control needs, including scope and budgeting and work with local site team in assisting with completing any required work in order to complete these needs.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:


  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout ECAN cement operations.

Relationship with Others:


  • Reports to the Area Slag Grinding Plant Manager
  • Works independently and in crossfunctional teams involving plant/site personnel and technical support as required.

Specific Accountabilities:


  • Ensures systems network maintenance, optimization and improvement activities are taking place as necessary to maintain seamless operations
  • Collaborate with other plant functions to ensure work is performed in relation to specific projects related to this role
  • Supporting main outage preparation including, plant shutdown schedule, costs, and equipment preparation as it relates to major electrical, IT/ADC and process control and automation.
  • As required design, develop, implement and maintain Process Control Networks (PCS) and Systems in accordance with Holcim Guidelines and policies
  • Develop/improve system programs and new control methodology for the plant production/performance
  • Develop Training documentation and Coach Control Room personnel on the Process Control Systems(PCS)
  • Support the development of PCS hardware upgrade plans
  • Ensuring network and PCS drawings are updated and shared within ECAN
  • Working with Business IT and ADC for Network communication issues and Corrective actions
  • Update/renew license support for the PCS
  • Supporting the implementation of any Security updates and/or policies mandated by LafargeHolcim and CIP Electrical and Automation groups
  • Identify, plan and develop upgrade proposals for obsolete systems
  • Completing Electrical Safety audits
  • Conducting Energy Savings and efficiency Audits and Implement new energy saving initiatives such as VFD conversions, Power peak rate management etc
  • Developing ECAN Electrical, Instrumentation and PCS spare parts management
  • Ensuring process is in place for updating site Electrical, PCS and Network drawings and completed in timely manner
