Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support, including design and financial management for existing Enterprise and large clients and prospects.
The Benefits Analyst will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients.
- Complete the annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations
- Create reports, budget projections and reviews plan financial performance
- Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements
- Conduct marketings; including preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons and recommendations on marketing responses, and preparing marketing report
- Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes
- Monitor carrier/provider services standards
- Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings
- Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to keep abreast of industry trends and activities
- Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, crossfunctional teams
Other responsibilities may also include, as needed:
- Conducting plan design benchmarking studies
- Reviewing all benefits documentation (contracts, booklets, collective agreement, amendments) for accuracy
- Monitor implementation process to ensure deadlines met, questions answered, all forms completed in order to meet effective date.
- Prepare detailed plan design documents using excel template and update when required
- Investigate and assist with resolving ad hoc claims and coverage issues for clients
In order to be successful in the Benefits Analyst role, you will need:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in group benefits
- Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans
- LLQP, CEBS or willing to obtain
- Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Drive to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sensitivity to confidential information
