The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated individual to work with the Asset Management Division of Central Services as a Divisional Occupational Safety and Risk Officer.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check and Child Abuse Check, Adult Abuse Check
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's license
  • Must be able to perform the physical duties of the position including; sitting, standing, crouching, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weathher.
  • Must possess Certified Safety Auditor, Construction Safety Officer or Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Postsecondary education in facility operations and maintenance, technical trades or occupational safety. Combination of experience and training may be considered.
  • Experience working with Safety Committees and facilitating training.
  • Experience performing formal safety program audits.
  • Experience conducting/coordinating serious incident investigations
  • Experience working independently and displaying initiative
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills

Desired:


  • Experience supervising employees

Duties:


  • Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of ASD through the Director of Operations, Divisional Occupational Safety and Risk Officer is responsible for Operations Branch and Divisional coordination, management and_
- administration of the core workplace safety, business continuity and emergency response planning elements of Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management Program for the Division and Operations Branch._
