The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated individual to work with the Asset Management Division of Central Services as a Divisional Occupational Safety and Risk Officer.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check and Child Abuse Check, Adult Abuse Check
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's license
Must be able to perform the physical duties of the position including; sitting, standing, crouching, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weathher.
Must possess Certified Safety Auditor, Construction Safety Officer or Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation

Qualifications:

Essential:

Postsecondary education in facility operations and maintenance, technical trades or occupational safety. Combination of experience and training may be considered.
Experience working with Safety Committees and facilitating training.
Experience performing formal safety program audits.
Experience conducting/coordinating serious incident investigations
Experience working independently and displaying initiative
Interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong written communication skills

Experience supervising employees

Duties:

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of ASD through the Director of Operations, Divisional Occupational Safety and Risk Officer is responsible for Operations Branch and Divisional coordination, management and_

- administration of the core workplace safety, business continuity and emergency response planning elements of Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management Program for the Division and Operations Branch._
