Assistant Controller - Edmonton, Canada - Connecting Care

This role will be a 12 month Maternity leave.
You will realize success by your ability to:
- Actively support and participate in company-wide initiatives
- Prepare budget and cash flow forecast
- Analyze government requirements to maximize funding
- Create ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Communicate effectively with the clients, government agencies and staff
- Keep team members informed, on an ongoing basis, of progress and significant issues
- Present Financial Statements to the owners
- Assist team members as needed
- Review reposting packages for the properties including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Variance Analysis.
- Review regulatory reporting
- Prepare consolidated Financial Statement
- Assist with the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports
- Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls
- Analyze labour costs and provide recommendations
- Manage or assist with external audits
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Provide leadership, training, and development to finance and accounting staff
- Research accounting issues where necessary for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Support the company's continuous improvement program through business partnership and financial analysis
- Support the design and creation of standard and adhoc reports, KPI tools and dashboard
- Assist with AP and AR reviews
Foundational knowledge and experience:
- Five + years' related experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- CPA preferred
- Advanced Excel knowledge
- Strong knowledge of ASPE or IFRS
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking skills
- Effective at decision making and judgment
- Solid computer skills, experience with Yardi would be an asset
- Strong time management skills with a work ethic and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
