- Telephone Interviewer II
Position Summary - Are you looking for a handson opportunity to work on an interesting data collection project? Are you looking for a unique opportunity for shortterm employment at Red Deer Polytechnic on weekday evenings and the occasional Saturday/Sunday during the day?
- The Telephone Interviewer II is responsible for the timely and accurate collection of survey data at Red Deer Polytechnic. This position will be responsible for assigning workload including setting up stations, assigning call sheets, and collating completion data at the end of the shift. This position will make calls to ask scripted questions, asking probing questions based on previous responses provided by respondent. The incumbent will be required to use a computer to type responses into a form or system as the script requires.
- The Telephone Interviewer II will have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service. As a successful interviewer, you will establish contact with survey respondents ensuring their eligibility, conduct interviews with respondents to collect information using survey questionnaires, record responses into computer programs/databases, and maintain confidentiality of information.
Position Responsibilities
Telephone survey data gathering and supervision
- Communicates current priorities as determined by permanent Institutional Research staff to telephone interviewers on shift
- Administers internal and external data collection instruments
- Inputs data into survey software and Microsoft Office products (e.g., excel)
- Sets up and takes down interviewing stations for team and/or self; this includes getting keys as needed
- Completes required paperwork for survey completion tracking and interviewing stats
- Oversees up to ten telephone interviewers per shift, as required
- Assigns workload/call sheets to Telephone Interviewer(s)
Editing and validating completed surveys
- Edits survey information collected at the end of every survey call
- Ensures grammar is correct, edits for spelling mistakes
Appointments/Search phone listings
- Checks the schedule for appointments and sets up appointments for telephone interviews with respondents
- Searches listings for current telephone numbers
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling
- Excellent written, oral and telephone communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to use a computer and online software
- Data entry skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with enhanced listening skills
- Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time
- Ability to supervise a team of up to ten on shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a 1year college certificate, one year University or equivalent
- Current Red Deer Polytechnic student or student planning to attend Red Deer Polytechnic in Fall 2023 is an asset
- Current Red Deer Polytechnic employee is an asset

- An additional 8% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation.
