Job Summary
The Buildings and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Supervisor position in ONCND is staffed in support of a specific shift and as such may assigned to work to one of preload, Twi, or day shifts.
The BaSE Supervisor assists in determining proper corrective action to be taken with damaged or worn equipment based on the history of breakdowns and discussions with the operations team to determine the most cost-effective solutions.
The BaSE Supervisor manages all project and process-engineering activities. This position creates and distributes bid documents and project manuals, evaluates incoming bids and project estimates, and recommends/awards contracts.
This role ensures facility appearance is maintained at an acceptable level at the most reasonable cost and may also supervise others.
The BaSE Supervisor has responsibility for Facility Safety and Environmental compliance.Responsibilities
- Assists with overseeing the protection of physical assets, facility and equipment maintenance, and facility housekeeping
- Assists with identifying and scheduling necessary repairs and preventative maintenance using PE mechanics and outside vendors to maintain the condition of the facility
- Communicates assigned work status to colleagues to determine potential impact on the department's schedule
- Assists with maintaining environmental compliance in accordance with UPS environmental programs (e.g., Storm Water, Clean Air, Dangerous Goods, etc.) to promote the environment and health and safety of UPS workers and the surrounding community
- Delivers required regulatory training (e.g., Lockout Training/Hazmat Training) as directed to BaSE and nonBaSE personnel
- Supervises "in house" mechanic teams to maintain both quality conventional and automated package handling systems
- Oversees maintenance of UPS facilities and systems via both UPS Mechanic Teams and Outside Service Contractors
- Maintains control of project expenditures to avoid cost overruns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in Engineering required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting programs required
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams desired
- Availability to work flexible shift hours, up to 5 days per week required
- Programming experience including troubleshooting, basic understanding of networks, motor control theory, and operation including basic AC and DC electrical troubleshooting desired
- Exposure to Automation and PLC architecture desired
- Project Management experience required
- Financial acumen
- Experience with vendor management to meet business needs
