Victoria Contracting & Municipal Maintenance Corporation (VCMMC) is accepting resumes for the position of Parks & Gardens Crew Lead.

The position of the Parks & Gardens Crew Lead requires a minimum of 2 years experience managing a crew of 3-5 staff, plus be able to complete tasks and paperwork on time.

Schooling on agronomy/botany and having a basic understanding of irrigation with a desire to continue horticultural education is an asset.

VCMMC provides maintenance services to several municipalities in the Capital Regional District and as such employees may have a diverse range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, the following:

• Leaf blowers, grass/hedge trimmers, etc.
• Experience driving bobcats is an asset
• Use of basic hand tools
• Completing multiple jobs/work orders in a timely manner to meet critical deadlines
• Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures
• Maintain a professional appearance and dealing with the public in a courteous and respectful manner at all times
• Assisting in physical labour tasks as required
• Participating in and recording prejob safety meeting

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid drivers license _(Please indicate any other relevant certifications/licenses you may possess)_
• Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment
• Strong communication skills, specifically the ability to convey information effectively
• Strong listening skills, specifically taking direction and putting them into action
• Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
• Attention to detail regarding paperwork, staff time sheets, work orders and materials tracking
• Work effectively as a team leader and have excellent interpersonal skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job is physically demanding and requires working in all weather conditions. The applicant must be able to lift/carry heavy objects and do repetitive tasks. If you have a genuine passion for working in gardens Victoria Contracting offers an enjoyable and challenging work environment.

Salary:
$23.00-$27.00 per hour
