Description

WHO WE ARE

The Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) supports the Canadian Armed Forces members and their families wherever they are in the world through the provision of fitness, recreation and leisure activities, family and charitable support, retail as well as personal financial services.

We offer our employees the opportunity to work with a purpose every day in an inclusive, healthy, respectful and rewarding work environment.

THE ROLE

The Recreation Special Needs Facilitator (Support Worker) plays an important role, providing quality leisure programs, services and facilities to our military members and their families.

We promote and encourage people with special needs to participate in a wide variety of activities offered throughout our communities.

We believe that when members of the Canadian Armed Forces are able to take good care of themselves and their families, they can do better both at home and at work.

You will have an important portfolio, facilitating participation of people of varying abilities in the community activities of their choice.

You will need to be a compassionate, empathetic and detail-oriented person who possesses strong listening and oral communication skills to be successful in this role.

Patience, a passion for helping people, and being a team player are also essential attributes.

You may be working with one participant or a group of children; all who need help and care to integrate and feel included.

This means assisting with the development, planning, and implementation of inclusive recreational activities for children with special needs and assisting with personal care and health needs in a variety of settings, including at the playground, gym, pool, washroom, at lunch and on field trips.

You will ensure integration of participants into recreational programs by using assistive technology and resolving accessibility issues.

Each day you will make a difference in the lives of participants and will be contributing to improving the quality of life for our military.
