Position SummaryReporting to the Supervisor, Development Approvals, this position is responsible for the following:
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare associated reports and recommendations to Planning Committee/Committee of Adjustment and Council
Assist in the completion of policy planning projects, specialized land use studies and research activities associated with the long range growth planning
Advise individuals, commenting agencies, and other local bodies on planning matters
Assist with general planning administration
Represent the City at Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) hearings
Adhere to the City of Kingston's policies and code of conduct
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies
4 year degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, or equivalent
Masters' degree preferred
Three (3) years' recent related experience in planning, preferably in a municipal setting
Must have excellent understanding of municipal government with a well-developed ability to interpret policies and regulations of the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement and other applicable municipal and provincial legislation
Must demonstrate corporate competencies:

Excellent oral and written communication skills with effective interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities and to present information and issues in a clear and concise manner
Must possess superior customer service skills
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal reference check
Must possess and maintain a valid class "G" driver's license
