    The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of " Spin Instructor".

    As a Spin Instructor you will be responsible for designing and leading dynamic, engaging and motivating spin classes for participants of all fitness levels who are interested in increase their overall health and cycling fitness using measurements such as wattage and MAP testing. In addition, supporting participants in achieving their cycling and sport goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about cycling, and is familiar with all styles of cycling. They are confident in leading group fitness programs and value connecting with participants in order to ensure that they feel welcomed and supported in an inclusive environment. Must also be able to provide instruction on how to set up an individual's spin bike as well as how to use wattage and resistance to enhance one's workout. Additionally, background in cycling as both a coach and athlete considered an asset.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Certification from a recognized fitness organization (e.g., Spinning, Schwinn Cycling, AFAA) or from equivalent reputable organization.
  • CPR/AED certification required (or willingness to obtain)
  • Previous experience as a cycling/spin instructor or cycling coach preferred.
  • Strong background in cycling, with knowledge of proper bike setup, riding techniques, and training principles.
  • Passion for fitness and helping others achieve their goals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate class schedules.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • At least one year of previous Group Fitness experience preferred
  • Experience and/or certificates in recreation, biomechanics, physiology, exercise science considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire participants of all fitness levels.
  • Highly motivated and possess ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoon, evenings, weekday and weekends as required for operational requirements.
  • Wage range is between $30.00 and $40.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
