***The Dispatch Planner, Linehaul Operations is responsible for executing on the Linehaul plan by coordinating the scheduling and routing of Driver trips and working closely with the drivers to achieve and maintain high service levels. The Dispatch Planner, Linehaul Operations works closely with terminal teams to ensure all trips are coordinated, company resources are optimized, and customer needs are being fully met and/or exceeded. They play a leadership role in the Dispatch function nationally, being a team player and collaborating effectively with all team members, drivers and customers to achieve daily Linehaul objectives. The Dispatch Planner, Linehaul Operations is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of trip information and driver records in TruckMate, and other records maintenance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Buys third party capacity in the open market at a competitive rate.
  • Posts available loads and power on the Loadlink on regular basis.
  • Responsible for all outside carrier communication.
  • Works with Dispatch Planners to ensure advance booking of third party carriers.
  • Maintains outside carrier capacity buying metrics.
  • Ensures carriers are sending invoices on time on Linehaul Payables.
  • Resolves carrier payable issues.
  • Updates Trip Status and ETA's in TruckMate for all active trips.
  • Understands Linehaul service matrix and service schedule.
  • Plans and executes recoveries in case of breakdowns, road closures accidents and incidents.
  • Actively plans and schedules all Linehaul drivers.
  • Provides daily driver planning sheet to Dispatch Planners.
  • Works with Dispatch Planners to ensure maximum miles for Linehaul drivers.
  • Resolves any Hours of Service, Safety & Compliance issues with drivers and carriers.
  • Ensures that drivers are submitting their pay invoices on time to Lauren.
  • Maintains holiday schedule for drivers.
  • Collaborates effectively with all team members to achieve daily objectives.
  • Provides the highest levels of service to all customers with whom they interact, whether internal or external, with the goal of continuously improving the customer experience.
  • Supports the Linehaul Operation with data entry and other daily tasks.
  • Helps in holiday and vacation coverage for other team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with the company vision, mission, strategy and culture.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 23 years' experience working in an LTL transportation environment in a planning or dispatch role.
  • Scheduling or customer service experience.
  • Experience working with company drivers, owner operators and third party carriers.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service abilities with a natural desire to provide exceptional service and build strong relationships with Drivers.
  • Proven ability to work in a fastpaced warehouse environment to ensure accuracy, compliance and a team culture of excellence.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize work flow to ensure deadlines are met in a fastpaced environment. Able to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Analytical; logical thinker with ability to think two steps ahead and successfully analyze different pieces of information and put them together like a puzzle.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement and ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and enhance results. Ability to manage and adapt to change.
  • Approachable, positive demeanor with a handson and teamoriented work style.
  • Knowledge of the logistics, supply chain and/or transportation industry preferred.
  • Commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Takes initiative, is proactive in their work, and resultsoriented.
  • Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience working effectively in a unionized environment governed by collective agreements is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of labour management, transportation, financial and other key technologies.
