The City of North Vancouver is looking for individuals to work as License Inspector/Clerks (Business Outreach Officers) on an auxiliary basis for the summer period.

In this position you will work within the Business Services team, providing information and positive support to local businesses to ensure compliance with business licensing and operation requirements.

A significant amount of time will be spent in the local community, compiling information on business composition and locations and providing information on site to business owners/operators.

In addition, you will spend time in the office working to register information, assess compliance issues, analyze industry and business operation trends, and prepare reports in collaboration with the Economic Development team.

You will have strong communication skills and a keen interest in business or economic development. You will have the ability to work independently, to exercise judgment, and to deal courteously with the public.

You will have excellent writing skills, strong familiarity with office technology, and the ability to organize and manage your workload effectively.

Considerable knowledge of the by-laws and departmental rules, regulations and procedures applicable to business licenses and municipal vehicle plates is required along with sound knowledge of the types of business operations and their liability for licensing fees.

Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial and typing courses and sound clerical experience in a licensing office and preferably some inspectional experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required along with a Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.

Salary:

$29.70 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
(January 2021 rates)

Hours of Work:

Between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday based out of the North Vancouver City Hall. Auxiliary, days and hours of work will vary depending on operational needs.
