Position Title:
Construction Manager

Duties:
The Construction Manager is accountable for the entire project lifecycle from inception to close-out.

The duties of the position include but are not limited to:


  • Providing daytoday supervision to and direction and control over the project team;
  • Utilizing industry experience to carefully plan for project requirements including with respect to material and labour requirements and environmental and safety hazards and precautions;
  • Overseeing document control and project planning including managing and evaluating project milestones, material requirements (quantity and quality) and preparing budgets and construction schedules;
  • Performing technical analyses and calculations and working with suppliers, project coordinators, and project team to coordinate the purchase of project material ensuring it meets the required specifications and code requirements for the project;
  • Evaluating and monitoring project performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain the agreed upon schedules, costs and quality;
  • Ensuring staffing plans are developed and functional coverage is maintained for the project;
  • Actively ensuring that the project team works in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and upholds the values and commitment to ANMAR's Safety Program;
  • Monitoring and reporting to Senior Management Team on the progress and performance of a project including physical and financial status of the project being developed and providing clarity on significant events and issues and status of project and costs;
  • Participating in contract review meetings;
  • Managing labour requirements by reviewing weekly forecasts and prioritizing labour based on the project requirements and business priorities;
  • Reviewing and submitting completed invoices/timesheets/additional work authorizations (AWA) on a weekly basis to the Manager, Contract Administration;
  • Forecasting project revenues and margins and conducting daily/weekly/monthly analyses to identify opportunities to meet project targets;
  • Effectively determining bid strategies required for the company to be successful and reviewing all prequalification bids that are submitted for accuracy;.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team, while providing day to day direction to the team
  • Develops the project budget for direct, indirect and other costs based on estimates provided for the identified project scope of work;
  • Provides technical support/work in connection with design and specification for our projects;
  • Overseeing the change management process and approval of all trends and change orders;
  • Leading the establishment of processes, systems, policies and methodology to ensure project and financial controls are implemented, monitored and managed appropriately; and
  • Reviewing all performance indicators on a shift basis and as part of the business operations reviews and taking action where required.

Qualifications/Skills Requirements for the Position:


  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in construction management, including experience managing Wet Flu Gas Desulphurization (WFGD) projects is required.
  • Previous work experience in the construction industry as an electromechanician is required.
  • Knowledge of project planning considerations, including safety hazards in WFGD project context.
  • Must have experience working with: Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD

Language:This is an English language position. The individual must be able to speak, read and write in English.

This position will involve working in multiple locations in Ontario, including the following:

  • Sudbury (199 Mumford Road)
  • Hamilton South Service Road)
  • Sault Ste. Marie

Wage:
$50 per hour (or CAD$2,000 per week for the 40-hour workweek).
