The Project Manager is a key member of the KBL Projects - Contracting Divisions. The position is responsible for managing multi discipline projects as well as key client relationships to grow the division.

Oversight of all aspects of projects including bidding, work plans, cost estimating, deadlines, project cost tracking, project scope management, communication with crews and clients, and responsibility assignment.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Interacting with clients, stakeholders and regulators throughout project life cycle and maximizing business opportunities
  • Plan, organize, lead and control the integration of project work areas and disciplines within the project efficiently and effectively
  • Lead, manage and hold accountable operational employees for the division
  • Expand and develop components of the Project Management or Quality Control Manual including policies and procedures with tools for project bidding through to execution and closure
  • Develop vendors, procure equipment, and participate in strategic relationships development
  • Establish annualized and project budgets, team goals, and growth plans
  • Manage company workforce and equipment to maximize utilization and profitability; sourcing, securing and managing subcontractor relationships
  • Developing project plans and related baseline documents (work breakdown structure, schedule, timephased budget) for complex projects
  • Target strategic opportunities in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory, Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan leveraging KBL's existing clients, relationships
  • Work with existing partners or develop capacity to provide abatement, demolition and environmental remediation and reclamation
  • Responsible for accurate and timely cost estimates delivery as well as supervision of projects cost estimates prepared by others
  • Work with management on the preparation of project proposals and submissions. Manage the process in a timely and strategic manner, to ensure compliant and professional proposals
  • Responsible for delivery of field work by working with the Site Superintendent(s).

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 510 years Experience as a Project Manager and/or Business Unit Manager
  • PMP designation is considered an asset
  • Cost estimating experience is a requirement
  • Heavy equipment experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with environmental contracting is considered an asset
  • Adept at working with little supervision, problem solving and adapting to change;
  • Able to find ways to obtain project objectives and deliverables, while maintaining time and budget constraints;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral; ability to interact with various types of stakeholders, regulators and first nations;
  • Strong computer and data entry knowledge and experience
  • Work well with teammates
  • Required to be able to travel out of province and meet COVID19 restrictions

Physical Requirements:


At times, it may be required to endure standing for long periods of time, lifting objects up to 50 lbs., performing repetitive motions, or completing physically demanding tasks during project field work.


Working Environment:

Work is primarily carried out indoors, but project work in the field will be required from time to time. Therefore, there can be exposure to extreme weather along with exposure to dust, noise, mud, water, smoke, and bacteria.

Project sizes run from $100,000 to $10,000,000 and have a duration of 1 month to 2 years in length.

Travel in western Canada and N60 is required.
