Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain is one of 14 Home and Community Care Support Services organizations in Ontario.

We are dedicated to ensuring our more than 64,000 patients annually receive the highest-quality health care and services at home.

Our patient-care coordination teams help develop care plans for people of most ages, focused on maintaining each patient's independence and dignity.

We also provide long-term care home placement services, and facilitate our patients' access to the community-based services they need.


Position Summary:


The Manager, Network and IT Services is responsible for the planning, design, implementation and management of systems and technology that support the data and voice systems infrastructure for Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain.


Primary Responsibilities:

Leading and managing a moderate-sized team of IT professionals, the Manager of Network and IT Services provides oversight in the following areas:
Develops, Implements and Manages IT Projects

  • Designs and documents procedures for operational maintenance of systems
  • Provides capacity analysis and product specification consulting services from requirement documents of sanctioned projects and budget planning
  • Plans, evaluates, prepares recommendations and schedules the design and implementation of new and revised network infrastructure and network security systems
Supervises Management of Voice/Data Local and Wide Area Networks

  • Plans, organizes and directs the development and enhancements of the network infrastructure and network security systems
  • Designs and monitors performance of the networks using system monitoring tools
  • Monitors Wide Area Network links to remote sites
  • Monitors office LAN switches and facilities
Manages Security and Operation of Computer Systems and Networks

  • Protects and maintains the integrity and confidentiality of data stored on LHIN systems; reviews security logs and implements password policies
  • Manages the antivirus update, security updates, and the disaster recovery function to ensure daily backups are completed successfully and sufficient for restoring data and systems

Education and Experience:


  • University degree or College diploma in Computer technology or equivalent in education, training, and related experience
  • Handson networking, server, and telecommunications experience which is normally attained over a minimum period of three years
  • Experience in a management role or equivalent leadership experience
  • Significant experience working with HCCSS networks and Ontario Health systems and requirements
  • Experience leading in a unionized environment
  • Project management experience will be considered an asset
  • Certification in ITIL will be considered an asset

Knowledge:


  • Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN and Voice Over IP technologies, Network servers and Network equipment and design, office automation software, operating systems security, and ISO 17799 security policies and standards
  • Advanced technical knowledge in areas such as Networks, telephone systems, computer hardware and software, IT security, server infrastructure
  • Indepth computer literacy in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective Service Desk customer focused processes
  • Knowledge of privacy principles
  • Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Ontario Health incident management process for security breaches

Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to communicate complex and technical information in a clear and concise manner to staff with limited technological knowledge and experience
  • Excellent presentation skills to communicate technical information to staff during training sessions for new software releases, and to present new IT solutions to external partners
  • Negotiation skills to discuss with sales representatives regarding new and existing technologies

Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain offers flexible work options, this position will have a hybrid model of work with a combination of in-office and remote work locations
