This is an ideal position for someone looking a flexible schedule.
The Life Skills Worker supports an amazing group of young adults with developmental
disabilities who live and work in Whistler and Pemberton. The Life Skills Worker helps support
these individuals with daily living, work, and social connections in their community.
Please note:
Experience in working in an Indigenous community and/or with Indigenous
and understanding of Indigenous culture and history in BC and Canada.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 with additional coursework in services to persons with a
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a broad
- Preferably a combination of relevant experience and education.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Driver's License and access to reliable vehicle.
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication skills, written, verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to work independently, with flexibility and an eclectic approach in
- A commitment to and interest in the field of service to people with
Responsibilities:
Program:
- Relate to clients in a professional, caring, and positive manner, which
- Assist client to identify goals and develop an Individual Service Plan.
- Provide opportunities for individuals to learn life skills (i.e., personal hygiene,
with an emphasis on increasing independence.
- Familiarize clients with community resources including transportation services,
- Assist clients in developing interpersonal and social skills.
- Act as an appropriate role model.
- Work with individual community members, resources, and agencies to foster
Organization:
- Keep accurate records and submit quarterly reports on client's progress as
- Attend staff meetings, meet with Manager of Community Living and update
- Meet with Ministry representative as required.
- Assist Community Living Services Manager with maintenance and revision of
- Other related duties as required.

- Signed Confidentiality form.
- Approved reference check.
- Driver's Abstract.
- Valid proof of Covid-19 vaccination required.

Compensation:
As per the BCGEU Collective Agreement, the wage is** $21.63 per hour.
