Culinary Nutrition Management Assistant (Summer Position)


Hours of Work::35 hours per week


Duration: 8 weeks

Position Summary:


  • The Culinary Nutrition Management Assistant will assist in supporting high quality delivery of food services to seniors, who are onsite residents and local community residents.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Develops healthy recipes, menus and sources of foods for a community based residential restaurant and shop serving older adults
  • Applies creativity to menus and presentation
  • Liaises with chefs and Supervisor before changes to menus are introduced
  • Conducts research including surveys to determine the food service needs of clients
  • Analyzes data, collaborates with Dietician/ Facilities Director, and makes recommendations and improvements for menus and recipes for a diverse population of seniors
  • Engages clients periodically to gain meaningful feedback on services and report to supervisor
  • Ensures that the food services environment looks aesthetically welcoming
  • Creates presentation on summer work experience

Education:


  • Pursuing a College Diploma program in the Culinary Arts/ Management, Cook, Nutrition, Food Beverage Management, Cook/Baker Apprentice, or Hospitality

Skills & Experience:


  • Work or volunteer experience in providing food preparation and some cooking in a busy kitchen environment an asset
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multicultural team and under high pressure
  • Ability to speak a second language an asset
**- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
- be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- be legally entitled to work in Canada
