Your Role at Baxter:

In this role, you will be delivering the best-in-class inventory management for compounding raw materials and production supplies.

You will be responsible to maintain 100% service level and mitigate any potential for production and customer impact due to controllable inventory and supply chain issues.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing strong relationships with 3rd party suppliers and Baxter's Procurement Team.

This position will manage all order quantities, forecasts, and safety stock in addition to performing code setup of new materials and facilitating the merchandizing process.


What you'll be doing:


Ordering and Inventory Management

  • Order raw materials and consumables from 3rd party suppliers including followups and resolving back orders to maintain 100% service level.
  • Perform sales transfers of intercompany products from 3PL to compounding facility.
  • Develop and maintain a system of determining order quantities based on historical demand and forecasts, including setting up safety stock levels.
  • Perform receipting checks of all inventories received into Compounding centre as per receiving process and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner through liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and maintain appropriate stock on hand depending on criticality of the material, supplier reliability, lead time, consumption pattern and forecasts.
  • Assist in all planning related work associated with inventory including collaboration with supply and demand planners to ensure ongoing Compounding requirements are adequately captured and planned.
  • Create annual blanket purchase orders as required.
  • Develop and maintain reports on material usage calculations and provide necessary commentary on consumption trending as required by management.
  • Initiate and manage code setup of new materials and merchandizing as per local procedures.
  • Manage supplier notification of change (SNC) by working with supplier quality and BSM teams.
  • Maintain costs of inventories within JDE and communicate cost changes to key stakeholders.
  • Manage the warehouse space efficiently, ensuring tidiness, ease of storage and picking and appropriate labelling.
  • Compile and prepare Stericycle waste for pickup as required.
  • Participate and drive continuous improvements projects related to inventory management.
  • Resolve all invoice discrepancies through liaison with Accounts Payables Team and suppliers.

Risk Management

  • Ensure shortdated stock is flagged for review and all potential opportunities are explored from an early stage to minimize discard risk.
  • Perform cycle counts and/or stock take as required by local stock control process. Discrepancies exceeding predefined variance limits would require thorough investigation and analysis aimed at preventing reoccurrence where needed.
  • Maintain stock accuracy in production and ERP systems as required. Ensure variances are investigated and necessary adjustments made to align system quantities with physical counts.
  • Execute product holds in collaboration with key stakeholders and work with Quality team in managing product disposition.
  • Review and update local inventory procedures at least once every 2 years or as required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to inventory management.
  • Other duties as required.

What you'll have:


  • Postsecondary degree/diploma in Supply Chain
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in GMP regulated environment, Warehousing and inventory control
  • Strength using MS Office (Word/Powerpoint/Excel analytics, reporting, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros)
  • Ability to regularly execute both manual tasks and computerbased tasks
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong ability to balance multiple priorities with excellent time management skills
  • Strong vendor management skills

Nice to have:


  • 5 years in the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Prior experience in Pharmaceutical/cleanroom inventory management
  • Proven track record following detailed SOPs
  • Experience with merchandizing processes
