Position Summary:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities:

Guest service:

  • Welcome and greet guests upon arrival in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Assist guests with menu choices and provide recommendations
  • Take accurate orders and communicate any special requests to the kitchen

Food and Beverage Service:

  • Serve food and beverages promptly and accurately, adhering to the hotel's service standards
  • Monitor tables for guests needs, such as refilling drinks, removing empty dishes and providing additional cutlery or condiments
  • Ensure proper handling and presentation of food and beverages, following established guidelines for temperature and appearance

Product Knowledge:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods and beverage offerings
  • Stay informed about daily specials, promotions and any menu changes
  • Communicate effectively with guests to answer questions and provide information about the menu

Upselling and Revenue Generation:

  • Proactively suggest appetizers, entrees, desserts and beverages to enhance dining experience and increase revenue
  • Promote special events, offers and loyalty programs to encourage repeat business

Cleanliness and Organization:

  • Set up and prepare tables before guests' arrival, ensuring they are clean, wellstocked and set to standard
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, including cleaning and sanitizing tables, chairs and service areas

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth communication and efficient service
  • Collaborate with colleagues to handle special requests or challenging situations and resolve any guest concern promptly

Cash Handling:

  • Process guest payments accurately, including handling cash, credit card transactions and electronic payments
  • Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift and ensure all transactions are accounted for

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a restaurant is required
  • Previous experience in a hotel is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a past paced environment
  • Guest focused attitude with a dedication to providing exceptional service
  • Knowledge of food safety
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift moderately heavy trays
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays
