Job Purpose

The General Helper assists in all areas throughout the shop and primarily assist trades workers and foremen to complete their tasks.

Responsibilities

Displays a commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture.
Assist fitters and welders with tasks.
Assists Foreperson with daily jobs i.e. finding items.
Applyies general knowledge of tools and equipment.
Uses proper tools to meet the specific job requirements.
Uses oxygen and acetylene to cut steel.
Uses a 5" or 7" grinder to grind plates or other material i.e. beams, channels and angles.
Reads a tape measure (imperial & metric) and blue prints.
Unloads detail trays and organizes the detail.
Hustles detail.
Assists with housekeeping in the shop (sweeping) and outside, as required.
Attends daily toolbox meetings.
Completes tasks with mínimal NCR's.
Consistently follows and encourages shop rules.
Willing to work overtime when needed.

Qualifications

Respirator Training preferred.
Basic Rigging Course is an asset.
FLHA Training.
WHMIS.

Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work in a fabrication shop with moderate noise and possible work outside.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent

Pay:
$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
