Description

Under the supervision of the Career Services Manager, the Career Services Officer is responsible for building meaningful connections with students and employers, providing programs and support to students in their career learning and development, and working collaboratively with internal and external partners to meet departmental goals and objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact in the Career Services office. Provide outstanding customer service, and communicate directly with students, alumni, employers, and FCT staff.
  • Facilitate 1 on 1 meetings, consultations, and professional development sessions with students.
  • Actively seek, develop, and nurture working relationships with employers in related program fields to provide meaningful and successful employment opportunities to students and graduates.
  • Identify barriers to employment for international students and develop solutions and resources, to resolve those barriers
  • Monitor and update physical and digital job boards, while actively implementing new and innovative strategies to increase student awareness of potential employment opportunities within related fields.
  • Assist in planning and executing job fairs, networking events and careerrelated experiences for students and graduates, both on and offcampus.
  • Assist in gathering and reporting on student employment rates and statistical data through surveys and other correspondence to ensure the success of careerrelated efforts, and to meet departmental goals and expectations.
  • Gathering and maintaining current database of student documentation related to career services, coop and placements while ensuring reports are completed accurately and timely.
  • Administer workintegrated learning followup surveys and other correspondence to students, graduates, and employers.
  • Perform other student and career servicerelated duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Career Services, HR, Post-Secondary, or relevant support role.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated skills in understanding career foundations and job placement.
  • Proven experience handling a large caseload and working with international students is a definite asset.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work tasks or projects
  • Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse population
  • Problem solver with a solution orientated approach
  • Cooperate and collaborate as a member of a team
