Role:


The purpose of this role is to ensure accurate and consistent training and coaching of Driver colleagues and meets Sysco standards.

This role is also responsible for monitoring policy standards and tracking employee training data.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the auditing of all potential new driver recruits for the demonstration of proper skills required to do the role.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the warehouse to driver program.
  • Train and certify driver colleagues on all Ministry of Transportation requirements.
  • Ensure the compilation and maintenance of all training and development records and statistics.
  • Identify training needs and oversees training and development.
  • Assists with the coaching, mentoring, career development, training, performance management of team with the purpose of improving employee knowledge and skill level.
  • Conducts and completes observation reports in the field to ensure safe vehicle operations on the road.
  • Ensures adherence to the responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety act.
  • Meet with supervisors weekly to discuss employee's learning, using Progress Report Templates.
  • Provide both constructive feedback for improvement and positive reinforcement.
  • Complies with Sysco's Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with mínimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:


  • Minimum two years working as a driver as well as two years working as a trainer.
  • College Diploma in Teaching, Business Administration, Managerial Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a closely related field required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years Drivers AZ license in good standing.
  • MTO trainer's certificate would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing, fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and decisionmaking skills are a must.
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and MTO regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle may be required.
