Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist GBS will oversee and execute the day-to-day payroll processing of multiple company locations, for both salaried and hourly employees.

All while ensuring that the payroll is processed within a reasonable time, in full compliance with local and company regulations.


Required Education/Experience:


  • Minimum of two years of relevant training related to accounting
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in payroll processing
  • Knowledge of the UltiPro and Kronos system, assets.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:


  • A degree in accounting, business, or related field
  • Canadian Payroll Certification

Competencies:


  • Experienced in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Advanced skills in the MS Office suite, Excel in particular
  • Strong knowledge of federal/Provincial wage laws
  • Great sense of thoroughness, organization and must be able to work within deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to exercise great discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:


  • Review all employee salary data by generating reports to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Review payroll registers previews and send approval to payroll vendor for final processing
  • Record and send approval to payroll provider for final processing
  • Thoroughly test all proposed system enhancements/modifications pending compensation rules prior to final implementation
  • Resolve employee issues or questions regarding hours, earnings, payroll deductions
  • Assist employees with direct deposit and general deduction changes; update the system accordingly
  • Calculate and submit bonus/profit sharing retention bonus and other additional compensation payments
  • Submit requests for supporting accounts payable for payment to third party vendors for deductions union dues, benefits, etc.
