New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St.

Mary's General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.


Position Summary:

This position will be a hybrid position, with time spent both working from home and on-site as needed.


Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' practical experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of creating and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience in a healthcare setting (ideally acute care) and familiarity with medical terminology
  • Proven ability to manage projects and change
  • Ability to exercise leadership and inspire action
  • Demonstrated experience producing high quality, errorfree deliverables within tight timelines
  • Competencies include: ability to coordinate multiple projects at once; demonstrated ability to research, summarize, and report information; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with Oracle Cerner EMR
  • Process Review and Continuous Improvement experience, particularly rootcause analysis and value stream mapping.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Work with data creators, stewards, and users to understand workflow processes that use or generate data
  • Data profiling identifying what, where, when, why, how the data is flawed and its business impacts.
  • Create and maintain a data quality issue log to track identified issues
  • Present the analysis to users with recommendations for improvement/remediation
  • Work with SMEs to define data quality rules and performance targets
  • Prioritize the issues according to SMGH's goals and strategic priorities
  • Identify remediation tasks for each issue
  • Work with SMEs and leaders to manage data remediation
  • Developing an action plan to ensure consistent, reliable, and complete data going forward
  • Creating educational documentation for training purposes
  • Ongoing monitoring of data quality against targets
  • Perform root cause analysis on current business processes
  • Analyze data to determine business impacts of poor data quality
  • Analyze processes to define data quality requirements
  • Define and analyze performance metrics and report to stakeholders on a regular basis Performs cross‐functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies, and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner.
  • Abide by all SMGH policies and procedures, (i.e., Occupational Health & Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act,) position obligations, and perform work duties in accordance with SMGH's Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
