Job Brief:


Reporting to the Data Manager, the Information System Specialist will be part of the IS-DM (Information Systems and Data Management) team and will be responsible for the Network of Data Systems by developing system integration to the PLC and PI systems.

The Information System Specialist is responsible for ensuring existing and new developments are completed safely abiding all standard system and security programs requirements.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop SQL and PI system integration based on inputs from the PM and/or engineering team
  • Test, modify and update SQL, PLC and PI System and verify functionality as described in the engineering documents and drawings.
  • Configure, test, and commission industrial networking devices including switches, firewalls, and interfaces between Control Systems and Information Technology (IT) systems.
  • Participate in verifying correct functionality of field devices along with other commissioning team members; identify and resolve problems caused by PLC/DCS configuration and/or programming.
  • Identifying and documenting deficiencies.
  • Provide input and follow up on deficiencies to make sure they are addressed and closed satisfactorily.
  • Completing defined commissioning documentation (e.g., check sheets, ITPs, and test reports).
  • Recording final and accurate asleft condition of PLC and DCS configuration and programming on redlines of engineering documents, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Support and provide input to development of detailed plans for execution of work.
  • Monitoring the schedule and productivity of work and work collaboratively to resolve issues and barriers.
  • Design, develop and maintain datasets & data app.
  • Collaborate with IT department and teams across business to build and maintain data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from various sources into relevant datasets.
  • Support the design and development of data models and dashboards that support reporting, analysis, and visualization.
  • Optimize all stages of the data analysis process, from extraction through the modelling and visualization.
  • Act as a System Expert by supporting team members in the use and interpretation of data and understanding of metrics and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborates with and provides training and knowledge transfer to business endusers of reports and data sources.
  • Supports ad hoc and other unplanned analysis and reporting needs as determined by management priority and business changes.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Business or relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL development, statistical analytics, KPI development and metrics reporting, preferably in a Program & Project Management environment with quantitative metric analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Query & SQL.
  • Experience working with data and databases, including working experience with programming languages and business intelligence tools to build dataflow, datasets and analytical solutions.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate (Flow) is an asset.
  • Experience with Azure Analytics Services, including Azure Analysis Services, is an asset.
  • Expertly demonstrable understanding of database structure, business object models, and largescale data processing techniques.
  • Experience in App and Web development is an asset.
  • Familiarity and understanding of critical metric analysis, performance measurement, financial systems, and project scheduling/controls systems.
  • Demonstrate System knowledge and ability to merge multiple data sources into substantial information, review incomplete data, tackle problems, and provide recommendation for significant solutions.
  • Deep technical communication ability, including the ability to clearly and concisely detail and communicate complex data structures and process maps.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
