Position Summary


The
Manager,
Education Savings & Systems Support, is an outgoing, detail-oriented, team player who thrives in a space of innovation, growth, and out-of-the-box thinking.

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the primary role of the Manager, Education Savings & Systems Support, is taking responsibility for the day-to-day development, implementation, and operations of the Career Trek's Education Savings and Financial Literacy program and providing systems navigation support to students and families.

This individual is passionate about improving education and career outcomes for children and youth facing barriers to education and career success and role models Career Trek's core values of Equity, Inclusion & Belonging; Respect; Balance & Wellness; Truth & Reconciliation; and Caring in all aspects of their work.


The main areas of work include:

  • Day‐to‐day management of the Education Savings, Financial Literacy, and Systems Navigation portfolio and programming.
  • Outreach to students and their families, community partners, and postsecondary institutions, to develop and navigate routes and resources for learners to achieve education and career success.
  • Providing leadership and establishing relationships with participants and their families, school divisions, schools, community members, and other organizations that align with Career Trek's Mission and Vision.
  • Overseeing Career Trek's scholarship activities, including selection committees, and distribution of scholarships.
  • Providing information, resources, and assistance to set up and access Registered Education Savings Plans. (RESPs), the Canada Learning Bond (CLB), and the Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG).
  • Coordinating and facilitating Education Savings and Financial Literacy lessons and skills workshops.
  • Identifying and navigating barriers to aid student transition into postsecondary education.
  • Ensuring all activities and key performance indicators are met and reported, as outlined in the agreedupon statement of work between Career Trek and Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Program and Systems Navigation

  • The daytoday development, implementation, and operations of the programs in the Education Savings, Financial Literacy, and Systems Navigation portfolio
  • Ensure program activities operate within the policies and procedures of Career Trek
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with each partnering postsecondary institution, community groups, organizations, schools, and families
  • As part of a team, develop and facilitate presentations to families and school personnel
  • Communicate effectively with staff, families, partnering schools, postsecondary partners, and the public
  • Identify, evaluate, document, and promote the impact of Career Trek's Education Savings, Financial Literacy, and Systems Navigation program and resources.
  • Participate in, and support, the implementation of changes to address needs and opportunities in programming to maintain the successful integration of Education Savings, Financial Literacy, and Systems Navigation.
  • Support and promote volunteer, working, and mentorship opportunities with Career Trek and partner organizations.
  • Participate in the reviewing and updating of Career Trek programs, resources, and practices through both an antiracism and reconciliation lens.
  • Explore how Career Trek can expand to provide support to participants/alumni postprogramming.

Human Resources

  • Be informed about, adhere to, and implement human resources policies, procedures, and practices of the organization and ensure that personnel files for the program are properly maintained and kept confidential.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, training, and mentorship of programming staff to ensure that practices are consistent with Career Trek's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Ensure that Education Savings & Systems Support staff and volunteer personnel files are properly maintained and kept confidential.
  • Promote a culture where ongoing innovation and evolution are encouraged, empowering staff to think. creatively, bring new ideas forward, and thrive in an environment of change and expansion.
  • Provide ongoing support to our staff by ensuring an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Support improving talent acquisition and retention with a specific focus on diversity.

Financial and Administrative Management

  • Draft, manage, and monitor Education Savings, Financial Literacy, and Systems Navigation portfolio budget.
  • Record information, data, and progress on objectives, including narrative comments, on a consistent basis, to support the development of reports, proposals, marketing, and communications.
