Job Summary:

Your role:


  • Responsible for the IT cyber security portfolio for the City of Guelph
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring cyber security processes and procedures
  • Responsible for planning, design, implementation and lifecycle of tools, systems and services required to support an enhanced cyber security stance
  • Coordinate and audit design and configuration for existing and new corporate IT systems and services to ensure adherence to the City's Cyber security processes and procedures
  • Manage cyber security related audits and reviews of existing systems and services, identifying and prioritizing risks. Recommending and driving solutions for mitigation.
  • Mentor IT technical specialists in Cyber security best practices, and configurations
  • Manage and oversee cyber security vendors, and cyber security related work for corporate system deployments and enhancements
  • Member of technical leads for IT business continuity and disaster recovery teams
  • Actively monitor the cyber security landscape. Working to develop and implement updated security policies and procedures to address regulatory changes, threats, and best practices
  • Drive a security related mindset within IT technical teams, through education and leadership
  • Work closely with the Manager, IT Operations, and IT Management staff, to develop and implement cyber security related workplans
  • Responsible for the research, evaluation, budget recommendations and procurement for corporate cyber security solutions
  • Responsible for contributing to and reviewing technical procurement process in relation to cyber security
  • Act with complete discretion as exposure to confidential information and/or data will occur through the regular course of duties
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Cyber security frameworks and best practices, usually obtained through one of the following certifications:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Security
  • Other equivalent security certifications
  • Knowledge of cyber security related infrastructure and systems, such as Firewalls, SIEM, XDR, IDS, NDS, VPN, Web controls, DLP
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment tools including overseeing and managing active and passive vulnerability testing and risk mitigation
  • Experience in securing and monitoring SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, private and public cloud infrastructure, as well as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, VMware, and Azure cloud
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls and associated products
  • Experience managing and tuning SIEM, XDR and NDR to meet corporate needs and requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and stakeholders effectively
  • Must be a reliable selfstarter able to work alone or with supervision
  • Ability to problem solve and good decisionmaking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines
