Job Summary:

Your role:

Responsible for the IT cyber security portfolio for the City of Guelph
Responsible for creating and monitoring cyber security processes and procedures
Responsible for planning, design, implementation and lifecycle of tools, systems and services required to support an enhanced cyber security stance
Coordinate and audit design and configuration for existing and new corporate IT systems and services to ensure adherence to the City's Cyber security processes and procedures
Manage cyber security related audits and reviews of existing systems and services, identifying and prioritizing risks. Recommending and driving solutions for mitigation.
Mentor IT technical specialists in Cyber security best practices, and configurations
Manage and oversee cyber security vendors, and cyber security related work for corporate system deployments and enhancements
Member of technical leads for IT business continuity and disaster recovery teams
Actively monitor the cyber security landscape. Working to develop and implement updated security policies and procedures to address regulatory changes, threats, and best practices
Drive a security related mindset within IT technical teams, through education and leadership
Work closely with the Manager, IT Operations, and IT Management staff, to develop and implement cyber security related workplans
Responsible for the research, evaluation, budget recommendations and procurement for corporate cyber security solutions
Responsible for contributing to and reviewing technical procurement process in relation to cyber security
Act with complete discretion as exposure to confidential information and/or data will occur through the regular course of duties
Ability to work outside normal business hours as required
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Cyber security frameworks and best practices, usually obtained through one of the following certifications:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Security
Other equivalent security certifications
Knowledge of cyber security related infrastructure and systems, such as Firewalls, SIEM, XDR, IDS, NDS, VPN, Web controls, DLP
Experience with vulnerability assessment tools including overseeing and managing active and passive vulnerability testing and risk mitigation
Experience in securing and monitoring SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, private and public cloud infrastructure, as well as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, VMware, and Azure cloud
Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls and associated products
Experience managing and tuning SIEM, XDR and NDR to meet corporate needs and requirements
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and stakeholders effectively
Must be a reliable selfstarter able to work alone or with supervision
Ability to problem solve and good decisionmaking skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines
