Due to continued growth in our businesses, we have a requirement for an
Aircraft Paint Preparation Technician
to join our Team at our Peterborough, Ontario** location.


General Accountability

Specific Accountabilities
Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools.
  • Measure, weigh, or mix cleaning solutions, using measuring tanks and Zahn cups.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action pneumatic sanders and hydraulic lift platforms, ladders, work platforms and fall protection equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers, and corrosionpreventive chemicals and use protective equipment as required or prescribed.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Completely fill out timecards daily by making sure that the snag/task card information is correct.
  • When assigned a task, must be able to:
  • Ask questions to obtain clarity on expectations (quality & timing).
  • Complete assigned work in compliance with training received and instructions.
  • Report on progress, discrepancies and recommendations.
  • Have work signedoff and accept next task.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Crew Lead and/or Management.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School Diploma.
  • Ideally 2 years of transferable skills (Bus, Boat, Trucks, Auto Painting, Bodywork or Paint Preparation).

Skills/Abilities

  • Able to understand and follow direction with mínimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Team player qualities: integrity, accountability, adaptability and motivation.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Functional knowledge using a computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work rotational shifts including weekends.
  • Ability to work in small and/or confined spaces and within a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and wear a respirator and/or required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform various tasks.

Working Conditions

  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (up to 40 lbs.).
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which cause periods of discomfort.
  • Regular need to give close attention, either hearing or seeing, to what is happening.
  • There is some modest pressure from deadlines or other productivity standards. Work is somewhat repetitious.

Working Hours
This is a full-time (FT) position where hourswill change due to business operational needs and flexibility is required:
FT Rotational Shift (2 weeks on days & 2 weeks on afternoons)
Day Shift: 6am to 3pm
Afternoon Shift: 2:45pm to 11:45pm

OR

FT Weekend Shift:
(Fri, Sat & Sun) or (Sat, Sun & Mon) from 6am 7pm
