THE OPPORTUNITY
The Health & Safety Admin Assistant will be responsible for most of the administrative duties required by the Health & Safety Advisor which will assist in promoting the maintenance of a safe, accident-free and healthy work environment for the entire company.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- HR Downloads Master Administrator runs monthly reports for branches on completion of mandatory training for all employees, WHMIS & TDG, and safety committee training. Send reports to branches with deadlines to finish.
- Danatec Master Administrator runs monthly reports for completion of training for Hazcom & GHS for all U.S. locations.
- Annual First Aid Compliance requests and receives documents from all locations.
- Annual Evacuation Compliance requests and receives documents from all locations.
- Crane Training assists in identifying crane training needs and up to date certifications. Helps organize crane training.
- Forklift Training assists in identifying forklift training needs and certifications. Helps organize forklift training.
- AED Compliance assists AED compliance with LifeSavers in the U.S. and Mediquest in Canada.
- Assists the Health & Safety Advisor in preparing for the Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits.
- Assists the Health & Safety Advisor in the collection and followup of Annual Review documents from the branches.
- Assists the Health & Safety Advisor on projects
eg. automated vehicle logs and using HR Downloads for customized training, etc. - Distributes the Health & Safety Advisor's monthly training bulletins to all Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) members.
- Becomes familiar with and complies with the Company's Health & Safety Manual.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Certificate program in Office Administration or Occupational Health and Safety
- At least 2 years' experience in an administrative position preferably with experience working in a corporate safety position
- Strong MS Office skills in Word and Excel
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comprehension
- Excellent attention to detail, accurate keyboarding and data entry skills
- Comfortable dealing with all levels of employees including management and senior management
- Accountability and dependability
