DXP/HSE Integrated has an exciting IMMEDIATE opportunity for a
Safety Advisor to join our Windsor, ON station.
Type of Work:
Casual - Industrial and Construction
Length of Employment: 4 ? 8 months
Hours of Work/Shift:
Days 8 ? 12 hours/day
A Safety Advisor should have extensive knowledge of the Safety industry and its policies, job procedures as well as applicable government laws.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing guidance and technical support to the field staff.
- Administer sitespecific requirements of the client Safety Program.
- Act as a liaison and a safety resource for the site team and support project sites by monitoring and ensuring that the employees are practicing the policies and procedures of the client Program/Safety Manual.
- Administers, orientates, and assists the Supervisor to ensure the safety policies and procedures are practiced following the client Safety Program by all field staff.
- Prepares, coordinates, and conducts training on health, safety, and environmental related topics to protect, improve and maintain the employees? and the project sites performance, as well as comply with legislative requirements.
- Works closely with the Project Managers and Superintendents to provide a clean, safe, secure and hazard free project site in compliance with the client Safety Program, policies & procedures, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Conducts random and scheduled project site inspections, communicates findings to ensure workplace safety and routinely audits onsite safety compliance.
- Assists supervisors in properly investigating and documenting all incidents/accidents and injuries, as well as ensuring a system is kept in place for proper documentation.
- Coordinates and maintains workplace plans, such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls etc.
- Communicates information on identified hazards, precautions and required corrective actions throughout the project site, as necessary.
- Establishes and interfaces with onsite relationships with clients', subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Provides guidance and expertise to field staff on health and safety issues, as well as provides consultative advice to the project sites for continuous improvement.
- Keeps proper records and documents related to safety in good condition and current as per legislative requirements.
- Remains current with health and safety knowledge, trends, laws, and regulations.
- Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to policies and procedures and maintains a good attendance/tardiness record.
- Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional, timely and efficient handling of issues.
- Other duties will be assigned as necessary
Required Experience/Training:
- Accreditation as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
- Standard 1st
- Aid / CPR
- Valid unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified.
- Minimum of 5 years field experience
- Demonstrate leadership, coaching, mentoring, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in a health and safety capacity (field and/or administrative) would be considered an asset
Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
- Working at heights and / or climbing ladders or stairs
- Working in small / confined spaces
- Sitting / driving
- Bending / kneeling / crouching
- Standing / walking for long periods of time
- Working in adverse weather environments
- Employee must ensure they are fit for duty
- Additional training and certifications may be necessary to meet client specifications.
